EXCELLENT ACADEMIC RECORD
Our results for the transfer of children at Year 8 are excellent, with 100% of our children who sit the AQE examination (Association of Quality Education) accessing a Grammar School place for the last 15+ years. This process has recently changed and is now called the Schools' Entrance Assessment Group (SEAG) Entrance Assessment.
The average score for AQE is 100; our average class AQE score has been as high as 115 and the typical average is around 112.
In standardised testing through the school, our children obtain high scores in English and maths as well as in CAT which is an assessment of developed abilities in areas known to make a difference to learning and achievement – namely verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning – and it provides an objective perspective on potential student achievement. Our children achieve highly and, as a school, we stay consistently in the top quartile of results in Northern Ireland.
