EXTENSIVE FACILITIES & RESOURCES
Our Prep site has a leafy woodland-type setting. We have made use of the upper wooded area near the playground by establishing a Foundation Stage Outdoor Classroom which the children have named 'The Magic Garden'. This is used regularly for our children’s outdoor play to encourage imagination, creativity and language development, as well as interpersonal activities.
The lower garden area is also available for classes to learn outdoors and we have recently completed construction of an Outdoor Classroom. We use the garden areas to promote science topics eg: investigating trees and foliage and we have bird boxes and insect homes in place throughout the area.
Our Lower Prep children enjoy split breaks with two classes are in the playground at one time thus allowing more space for play. The Upper Prep classes use the Senior School tennis courts’ area and this allows for even more freedom of play at breaks and lunchtimes.
We use the facilities of the Silver Robin Cafeteria where lunches are made daily for delivery to the Prep site in Dromkeen Hall for P1 and P2 children and P3 to P7 walk to their cafeteria on a split lunch arrangement from the Senior School pupils.
Each classroom is very well resourced through the Parents Association (SUPPA) fundraising efforts. We are indebted to their efforts and in recent years £10000 was spent on assorted items throughout the school, including an online subscription to Mathletics and Numbots, which are online activities to improve mathematics for P1-P7 pupils.
